# Account Transfer

Issues transfer codes (an ID and a password) and uses them to take the account over on another device or browser.

**About this demo**

The demo signs in automatically with an anonymous account. The account is shared across every demo in the showroom, so items and currency you get in one demo carry over to the others. Loading takes a moment. If the frame is too small, open the demo in a new tab.

## Overview

The page shows which account this browser is signed in as and issues a transfer code (an ID and a password) for it. Entering that code in another browser signs that browser in as the same account. All showroom demos in one browser share the account, so after a take-over the other demos show the original account's data as well.

## How to try it

1. The top of **Your transfer code** reads **This browser is signed in as ...**, naming this browser's account. Until a code is issued, the ID line shows **None issued yet**.
1. Press **Issue a transfer code**; an ID like `demo-XXXX-XXXX` and a password like `XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX` appear. The password is shown only this once, so press **Copy the ID and password**.
1. Open this demo in another browser (or a private window) and enter the ID and password under **Take over another browser's account**, or use **Paste the ID and password**.
1. Press **Take over that account**; the page reloads and that browser is now signed in as the original account.
1. If the password is lost, press **Delete and reissue** in the original browser: the old code stops working and a new one is issued.

The account a browser used before a take-over cannot be reached from it again, so a private window is the safest place to try it.

## GS2 services used

- [GS2-Account](/microservices/account/): GS2-Account stores the transfer ID and a hash of the password as a take-over setting. Taking over returns the credentials of the account the code belongs to, so another browser can sign in as it.

## Use it in GS2 Studio

In GS2 Studio's Simple mode, open **Add features** and press **Add** on **Account Transfer** to bring this feature into your own project. To point at the package directly, choose **Add from GitHub** and enter the package below.
